Overview
The mountain stands at an altitude of 4566 meters above sea level inside the Arusha National Park.
Meru has one route to the top and can be attempted for three days, but we highly recommend doing it for four days for acclimatization. Most alpines use Meru for acclimatization before the Kilimanjaro climb. The mountain has less snow formed at the volcano eruption.
Unlike Kilimanjaro, when you are climbing Mount Meru, you have to be escorted by an armed ranger(s) as you pass through the Arusha National Park. It is at this time when you will enjoy the walking safari as you pass the groups of African buffaloes, zebras, and black and white colobus monkeys—just a little wildlife to mention.

Itinerary
Day 1: Arrival KIA – Arusha

On arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport, you will meet your safari guide, who will pick you up and start your trip to Arusha town. If the weather is clear, you will have a chance to have a view of Mount Kilimanjaro the highest mountain in Africa
Day 2: Momela Gate -Miriakamba Huts

Elevation: 1597 m/5240 ft to 2503 m/8212 ft
Altitude gained: 906m
After breakfast depart Moshi at about 8:30 a.m. and drive to Momela Gate. Make payment and start the climb with a picnic lunch to the first hut called Miriakamba Hut. Dinner and overnight
Day 3: Miriakamba Huts – Saddle Huts

Elevation: 2503 m/8212 ft to 3560m/11,680ft
Altitude gained: 1057m
After breakfast, we proceed with a climb to a second hut called Saddle. This is a steeper part compared to the first part (2 ½). During the afternoon, the client can decide to attempt climbing Little Meru Peak and back. Dinner and overnight

Wake up at midnight and have a cup of tea before starting to attempt a big Meru peak. Proceed to the summit, crossing the rocky path, and back to Saddle Hut for a full breakfast. The day will be spent resting. Lunch, dinner, and overnight at Saddle Hut.
Day 5: Saddle Hut – Momella Gate

Altitude lost: 1963m
Leave Saddle Hut and descend to Momella Gate via the first hut (Miriakamba), where you will be transferred to Arusha for your onward schedule.
Day 6: Departure
Day 6: Departure
After breakfast, according to your flight schedule, you will be transferred to the airport for your departure back home.
