Overview
The Day at Lake Eyasi tour is ideal for those who love cultural excursions. This tour gives you the chance to interact with the Hadzabe community for hunting and cultural exchange. These are hunters and gatherers for honey and insects in the bush. Lake Eyasi is a seasonal shallow endorheic salt lake on the floor of the Great Rift Valley at the base of the Serengeti Plateau, just south of Serengeti National Park and immediately southwest of the Ngorongoro Crater highlands.

Itinerary

6:00 AM: Begin your journey early from Arusha to Lake Eyasi, a 2.5-3 hour drive.
10:00 AM: Arrive at the Lake Eyasi, known for its cultural interactions with the Datoga and Hadzabe people.
10:30 AM: Visit Datoga Tribe;Explore the Datoga people’s traditional lifestyle. Watch blacksmiths at work and learn about their pastoral practices. Participate in discussions about their customs and social structure.
12:00 PM: Enjoy a packed lunch or a traditional meal prepared by the tribes.
1:00 PM: Visit Hadzabe Tribe;Meet the Hadzabe, one of the last hunter-gatherer tribes. Join them in a traditional hunting demonstration, where they use bows and arrows. Learn about their survival techniques, including gathering wild fruits, honey, and tubers.
2:30 PM: Cultural Interaction; Engage further with the tribes, experience their music and dance, and take photos.
4:30 PM: Return to Arusha; Leave Lake Eyasi and head back to Arusha.
